Me, Myself, and I

All about who I am, what I love, and the journey I’m on.

As a senior at Rock University High School (RUHS), I’m preparing for graduation in June 2025. I’m proud to serve as the two-term student body president and as one of just 13 AVID-certified tutors. I also represent RUHS in the Leadership Development Academy of Rock County. My team, the Power of 7, is a group of professionals working together to support the revitalization of the YWCA CARE House.

Through these leadership experiences, I’ve gained valuable skills in collaboration, communication, and community engagement. Whether leading student government, tutoring peers, or working with local organizations, I’ve learned how to lead with purpose and contribute meaningfully to the world around me.

RUHS’s unique structure has shaped my academic and personal growth. My first three years focused on building a strong academic foundation, while my senior year emphasizes leadership development and college readiness. Thanks to dual-enrollment courses at Blackhawk Technical College, I’m also gaining college-level experience that’s preparing me for success after graduation.

I’m currently finishing my final semester at Blackhawk Technical College, graduating in May 2025. I’m a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa’s Beta Rho Psi chapter and a multi-semester President’s List honoree.

In summer 2024, I interned with Blackhawk Tech’s IT department through the Rock Internship Program. I helped transition the campus to Windows 11 and assisted with IT equipment setup and relocation for the new Public Safety building—hands-on experience that deepened my understanding of IT systems..

My studies and internship experience have made me confident in front-end web development, especially with HTML and CSS. I’m also skilled in JavaScript, GitHub, and frameworks like Bootstrap, which I use to create responsive, user-friendly websites..

While front-end is my strength, I’m eager to grow my skills in advanced front-end tools, mobile app development, and broader programming areas. I’m passionate about technology and excited to keep learning how to use it to solve real-world problems.

Growth

I didn’t grow up in a typical home; I grew up at Pick ‘N Save, a grocery store that became my safe space and second family. With a dad who wasn’t around and a mom who couldn’t be, Pick gave me what I was missing: community, stability, and role models who showed up for me.

Two store managers, Kurt and Karl, became the father figures I never had. They taught me how to lead, how to laugh, how to write (kind of), and how to care. And when our coworker Patti was diagnosed with cancer, our store rallied around her — proving that a community is built not just on shared space, but shared love and action.

Pick closed in 2017, but what it gave me lives on. The values I learned there: empathy, teamwork, responsibility are the same ones I carry into every space I enter now, from school leadership to tech internships.

Pick taught me this: leadership isn’t about being in charge. It’s about building a community where everyone can thrive.

Short Term

My short term goals include working a good amount locally, setting up a nest egg for myself, entering my career field, and moving into my own place. I hope to achieve all of this within 1-2 years!

Long Term

My long-term goals are a bit more unconventional. I’m not pursuing a traditional college path. Instead, I’m focused on hands-on technical education and entering the IT/web development field. I’d love more of a technical or specialized education, but a 4 year bachelors degree is not really in the cards for me. I’d love to end up with a IT or Web Development field, owning my own home, and having a good amount of animals as roommates!
